First Class are taking part in Agri Aware’s Incredible Edibles programme and have been very busy learning all about where our food comes from - and how to grow it! We learned all about food origin and farmers. We also learned that some foods can be processed in factories to make new products - such as bread!
We investigated foods that are grown in Ireland and even searched for some at home and in the supermarket by keeping an eye out for the Bord Bia Quality Mark. We found apples, mushrooms, carrots, eggs, potatoes, vegetable soup, sausages, chicken and much more!
We recently planted our own fruit and vegetables - potatoes, strawberries, carrots, turnips, chives, spinach and lettuce! We have been very busy taking care of them. Plants need space, soil, water and air to grow. Check out some of our photos.
