Amber flag committee
This year, we have applied for an amber flag. The amber flag initiative is in partnership with Pieta House and is focused on promoting positive mental health in our community, in our case; the school. It is not only about the mental health and wellbeing of pupils but of all members of the school community, including staff.
We have 8 members of our amber flag committee, 2 teachers -Ms. McMahon (5th class), Ms. McLoughlin (6th class) and pupils from 4th class (Kimberley and Vanessa), 5th class (Alice and Alina) and 6th class (Lauren and Lilly). We are going to be busy throughout the year ensuring our 3 goals are met and the success of the initiative.
Our 3 goals are:
- Keep our Amber Flag notice board up to date.
- Carry out a mental health/well-being booster activity monthly.
- Organise a fundraiser for Pieta House.
If we succeed in meeting our goals and committing to doing our best to promote the positive mental health of all in our school, we will hopefully receive an amber flag to fly proudly outside the school, to show others that our school takes the mental health of all our community members, seriously.
Keep an eye on the website to see what we get up to throughout the year!
