First Class are so lucky! Today they went on a trip to Bord Bia Bloom in the Phoenix Park. They won their trip because they worked so hard growing fruit and vegetables for Agri Aware’s Incredible Edibles programme. We got a tour of the Agri Aware farmyard by our tour guides. We learned all about dairy cows and beef cattle. We also learned about sheep and even got to see a sheep being sheared! After our tour of the farmyard we went to the vegetable gardens. We identified all the different vegetables that were being grown because we have grown the same ones in school! We then got a talk from a nutritionist about all the different food groups. She even taught us some funny actions! While we were listening to the nutritionist, the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, walked right past us and stopped to give our class a big wave!! Then we had a picnic on the grass. Finally we went to the Kids Zone and we got to watch a show about making bubbles. Some of us even got to get up on the stage and demonstrate! We had a great day out in Dublin!
